Social Media Marketing Intern

We are looking to expand our Marketing team with addition of a Social Media Marketing Intern that is passionate not only about saving the planet, but about educating people on conservation and sustainability as well. This position is critical to capture and take advantage of trends across multiple platforms to both educate our network as well as draw new leads for the sales team to pursue.

Job Description

Reports to: Research & Marketing Coordinator

Location: Headquarters (Leominster, MA), with hybrid/flexible work options

Job type: Part-time (10-20 hours per week) until degree is obtained, with the intent for full-time (40 hours per week) hire when degree is obtained

The Social Media Marketing Intern will help to drive content generation and data analysis across all of our company social media platforms (mostly LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook, but Twitter and YouTube as well). A successful candidate is someone who is passionate about sustainability, creative in the area of graphic design, and a self-starter. As a new position within the company, we are looking for someone who wants to help create standards and expectations of this position, rather than simply fall into an already defined role. While there are required duties that come with the position, there are many opportunities for expansion, including video development, public relations, and other marketing disciplines.

Primary Job Functions

  1. Build and create social media content to be released on a daily schedule across the 4 main social media channels (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter)
  2. Maintain a social media content calendar that utilizes a variety of media vehicles, including (but not limited to) videos, graphics, blogs, and press releases
  3. Assist in writing educational blogs and articles, and company press releases
  4. Track social media content analytics for report in Sales and Marketing Leadership meeting
  5. Develop new, larger social media projects (like animated videos for example) that will help to draw more viewers to our network
  6. Assist in website design updates and development to create a seamless website customer experience
  7. Develop content for bi-monthly newsletter to keep our current network engaged and up-to-date on company stories and successes
  8. Assist in graphic design of packaging for different products and customers
  9. Build our product photography portfolio by taking and editing creative photos of all UrthPact product lines

Required Qualifications

  1. Education: currently pursuing a degree in Marketing or a related field, preferably entering into their senior year
  2. A concentration in social media marketing is preferred
  3. Experience with graphic design in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, and Venngage REQUIRED (ie, graphic design courses completed, or previous experience proven in the listed programs)
  4. Experience with the Social Media Marketing platform Loomly is preferred
  5. Experience/education in chemistry and manufacturing is preferred (and helpful)
  6. Strong organizational skills and time management
  7. Proven ability to create content on a release schedule
  8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  9. Basic research skills in the scope of creating content that conveys correct scientific information
  10. Strong skills in Microsoft (Word and Excel) and Google Drive (Docs and Sheets)
  11. Must be a creative, self-starter who can thrive working within a broader framework

Compensation & Schedule

  •   Flexible hybrid work schedule available
  •   Hourly pay – $15/hour
  •   Potential for college credit (dependent upon university requirements)

Physical Requirements

  •   Occasional lifting and moving boxes (around 30-50 lbs)
