OUR ORIGIN STORY
Paul Boudreau, founder and CEO of UrthPact, has been a leader in the injection molding industry for over two decades. In 2012, he had a life-changing experience while on vacation in Maine. Walking on the beach, he stumbled upon a plastic pail with a familiar company name on the bottom. Looking around, he saw plastic waste everywhere, and realized that every piece of plastic ever made still exists on this planet– including those he helped to produce.
This horrific realization inspired Paul to take action, and he founded UrthPact in 2013 with a clear vision: compostable materials made from renewable sources could be the answer to reducing dependence on harmful plastic materials. As a leading expert in molding and engineering, Paul knew that he could overcome the technical obstacles that had hindered other companies’ progress in developing reliable, sustainable, compostable plastic alternatives.
UrthPact has since disrupted the single-use plastics market with innovative earth-friendly products, including the world’s first 100% compostable single-use coffee pod. With a focus on high-performance, cost-competitive manufacturing operations, UrthPact is committed to creating a more sustainable future for all.

UrthPact was founded in 2013 with a clear vision: we were the best chance this planet had at a bright future. It was up to us to apply skills gained over decades of hard work to reduce and reverse the harm plastics were doing to our planet.
Traditional injection molding methods did not work for compostable plant-based materials. They were costly, inconsistent, and incorrect. So we took everything we knew about the process and completely re-thought to better understand; its properties, how it works, and how to work with it.
